Working Groups will be formed to deliver outputs per objective

OBJECTIVE 1:

To have a detailed appreciation of Korogocho
Outputs

• General socio-economic study for Korogocho
• Maps for Korogocho
• Situation analysis of Korogocho

Actors: Provincial administration, Community, CBOs, FBOs, MoL, MoH, CCN, UN-Habitat and MoLG

Lead Agency: MOLG and UN-Habitat
Activities under output 1:

• Define the structure of the study
• Conduct interviews, hold meetings, and group discussions

Activities under output 2:

• Mapping of existing physical situation

Activities under output 3:

• Sensitize Community
• Carry out an enumeration of residents
• Conduct socio-economic analysis

Methodology:

• Set up a Working Group under the chairmanship of UN Habitat and MoLG.
• The working group to draw up a work plan with budget, financial plan and time frame.
• The work plan to be presented before the Steering Committee for approval.
• Implement approved work plan.
• Money will be released periodically in response to specific requests made by the working group as approved by the steering committee.

OBJECTIVE 2:
To prepare an Advisory Physical Plan for Korogocho
Output:

1. Advisory Physical Plan

Actors: CCN, Community, MoLG and MoL

Activities under output:

1. Field reconnaissance
2. Hold stakeholder meetings
3. Drawing of plan

Methodology:

• Set up Working Group under the chairmanship of Ministry of Lands.
• The working group to draw up a work plan with budget, financial plan and time frame.
• The work plan to be presented before the Steering Committee for approval.
• Implement work plan.
• Money will be released periodically in response to specific requests made by the working group as approved by the steering committee.

OBJECTIVE 3:
To build capacity of various actors/Institutions
Outputs:

• Capacity needs assessment
• Capacity building plan
• Implemented capacity building plan
• Korogocho residents are informed on slum upgrading approaches in Kenya

Actors: MoH, NGOs, MoLG, UN-Habitat, CCN, MoL, MoF and Training institutions

Lead Agency: UN-Habitat and MoLG
Activities under output 1:

• Conduct capacity needs assessment consultatively

Activities under output 2:

• Prepare capacity building plan

Activities under output 3:

• Conduct capacity building sessions

Activities under output 4:

• Workshops to prepare and disseminate slum upgrading experiences in Kenya

• Submission of agreed land tenure system for scrutiny and approval by CCN and CoL
