On 14th and 15th December 2011, the Korogocho Slum Upgrading Programme organised a consultation workshop for the Korogocho Residents’ Committee to present to them proposed planning options. The workshop was attended by the technical team consisting of representatives from MOLG, MOL, CCN, NEMA, Real Plan Consultants and the Italian Cooperation. A workshop to discuss the Korogocho Development Plan was held on 11th and 12th February 2010 to engage the Residents Committee (RC) in the development of initial planning concepts and to inform them of the existing planning standards to be taken into consideration during planning. The Korogocho Slum Upgrading Programme in conjunction with the Athi Water Services Board (AWSB) has set-up of tanks in every village of Korogocho as a short-term measure to address acute water shortage in the area, while awaiting preparation of a water and sanitation reticulation master plan for Korogocho. The on going construction of roads has affected the informal water pipes that were running along the road reserve worsening the water situation in Korogocho.
