The Korogocho Slum Upgrading Programme in conjunction with the Athi Water Services Board (AWSB) has set-up of tanks in every village of Korogocho as a short-term measure to address acute water shortage in the area, while awaiting preparation of a water and sanitation reticulation master plan for Korogocho. Korogocho Holds the Miss Koch 2009

Miss Koch 2009 event was held on 24th October 2009 celebrating nine years of mobilizing community action. The event was held at Korogocho Chief’s camp from 9.00am to 6.00pm. The annual event was organized a number of youth groups in Korogocho- Miss Koch, Koch FM, Link the Hidden Treasure, Child Peace Africa and RYP. The Miss Koch community show has been operating in Korogocho since 2000. The annual event aims at addressing issues affecting the community and finding possible solutions. The Ministry of Local Government, Italian Cooperation and UN HABITAT organised a workshop on 05 – 06 November to sensitise the Korogocho Residents Committee (RC) on the role of the Socio-economic survey and enumeration in achieving the overall objectives of the Programme. The workshop was attended by consultants who have been hired to undertake the survey, Korogocho RC, MOLG officials, MOL, Comboni Missionaries, Italian Cooperation, the Korogocho Chief, and the Korogocho Councillor. Construction of Roads in Korogocho

Construction of four roads (Roads A, B, C and D) in Korogocho is on going. Already the residents have removed the structures that were blocking the roads. The contractor has done stripping and excavation of roads B and C and is in the process of filling and hand packing hardcore. The community is happy with the on going development which has created employment in Korogocho, including among the women and youth. ... Read More
